The goal of my project is to develop a new method to visualize synaptic inhibition in the brain. I am using a FRET-based chloride ion indicator protein, Clomeleon, and transgenic mice which express Clomeleon in various neurons in the brain. This approach allows me to image the functional architecture of inhibitory circuitry in the brain.
