Research

The aim of my project is to study chloride regulation in cortical  neurons that are exposed to estrogen and its mimetics at concentration levels known to bring about "endocrine disruption". Methods employed comprise chloride and calcium imaging, plus a contemporary armamentarium  of molecular tools that can elucidate gene expression and regulation. Of particular interest is the concept of developmental origins of adult onset disease; thus epigenetics methodology will be used to interrogate critical periods of development.
