Alumni Spotlight: Michael Wells in "Future of Neuroscience"

The Neuroscience Quarterly for Winter 2022 features alum Michael Wells as a rising member of the field in this "Future of Neuroscience" interview. Michael F. Wells, PhD, now an assistant professor in the UCLA Department of Human Genetics, earned his PhD in Neurobiology from Duke University in 2015 under the guidance of Guoping Feng.  In 2021, he completed his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Kevin Eggan at Harvard University and the Broad Institute and went on the job market, which he describes as "entering the Thunderdome." As a first-generation college student, Michael emphasizes the importance of mentoring and hopes that his future includes "not just making discoveries, but also improving the careers of trainees that may be coming from similar challenging backgrounds as mine." Full interview
