Jamie Courtland will receive the Gertrude B. Elion Mentored Medical Student Research Award. This fund is administered through the Triangle Community Foundation (TCF), in collaboration with the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, as an endowed award in memory of Gertrude B. Elion, 1988 Nobel Laureate in Medicine and a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF). These awards support women medical students who are interested in pursuing health-related research projects by providing funding for academic enrichment and professional development. The annual award provides one medical student with $10,000.
