Neurobiology's Anita Disney is one of 14 early career researchers from the US and Canada to be awarded Scialog: Molecular Basis of Cognition funding from Research Corporation for Science Advancement. Scialog is short for “science + dialog” and was created in 2010 by RCSA. Each $50,000 award goes to support research for a high-risk, high-reward project. The goal of Disney's project is to understand the mechanisms by which spiking activity in the locus coeruleus of the brainstem produces differing effects across brain regions and species, in the context of learning a new task under conditions of uncertainty.
