Researchers led by Neurobiology's Josh Huang and senior research associate and first author Shreyas Suryanarayana found that neurons formed through two different “birth routes” in a mouse embryo grow into adult neurons with noticeably different structures and functions. These early differences help determine how those neurons ultimately send information out from the brain’s cerebral cortex.
