Huang Lab Findings Published in Nature Neuroscience

A team led by Neurobiology's Josh Huang and postdoc first-author Yi Li studied how different parts of the mouse brain work together to guide a natural action where the animal reaches out and brings water to its mouth to drink. They found that a specific group of motor cortex neurons helps coordinate hand and mouth movements by boosting communication with the thalamus, which integrates signals needed to perform this skilled behavior smoothly.
