New Study by Dzirasa and Collaborators Investigates Disparity in Distribution of NIH Awards by Gender, Race, and Ethnicity

In a paper published online February 28 in JAMA, a team of investigators which included Kaf Dzirasa, examined  the gender, ethnic, and racial distribution of super NIH prinicpal investigators who received 3 or more concurrent NIH grants. They found that while the number of these super PIs increased 3-fold between 1991 and 2020, female and Black PIs were significantly underrepresented in this group, even after adjusting for career stage and degree.
